We have been bathed in a lovely late summer heatwave, which I have enjoyed very much. The forecast heavy rain at the weekend was expected but still caused chaos on a number of Stirling businesses. Partly blamed on global warming and many other features ie road structuctures, an abundandance of paving with minimal drainage. The local council will have to put it`s heads together to find a solution to stop the devastation being caused to these businesses. It made me think of what can be done on a smaller scale to help ease the effects of our ever changing climate.
While I`m no expert on the subject I do make an effort to do my bit as a responsible business owner, we have a Sepa licence which allows us to seperate our waste and all green waste is recycled at the facility at Polmaise waste site, we use biodegrable cellophane and all our casket trays are now made with biodegradable foam, the glass vases we supply in our gift work are recycled glass, small steps and as more options are becoming available we will add them in to the business. The cost of being eco friendly is more than traditional goods so it is a bit of a balancing act.
We can all do something to help so lets do it !
